“When the World Was Ours” – A Great Read!

Hi guys,
Today I want to talk about a book which is based on a true story and made tears run down my face.
The title is “When the world was ours“ and it was written by Liz Kessler.
I’ll give you a quick summary: The plot starts in Vienna in 1936. Three friends, Leo, Elsa and Max, are riding the ferris wheel in Vienna. Leo’s dad takes a picture of them, which is to be a good memory in the upcoming bad times.
In the further course of the action Leo has to trust strangers in order to be safe. Elsa has to live in constant fear and pain just because she is who she is. And Max finds himself being part of the danger which threatens his friends.
I loved the book and I would definitely recommend it to people who like reading stuff about this horrible time or just want to know more about life during the Second World War. Even if you’re not interested in history, I would recommend you to buy it because it’s extremely catchy.
The book never got boring and I’m glad I bought it. But if I had to criticize one thing, then it is that I didn’t understand why Max‘ point of view is presented in the 3rd person while Leo’s and Elsa’s perspectives are rendered in the 1st.
I hope you enjoyed this little review and maybe you’ll get yourself a copy of “When the world was ours“
Stay healthy,
Bye for now
